Rock is the neighbouring town to Padstow, just across the Camel estuary. Rock got its name from a local quarry where rocks were used as ballast by ships that had unloaded the cargo at Padstow; this quarry has now been replaced as a car park. In recent years Rock has seen great investment brought into this small town, bringing all kinds of celebrities to buy second homes here including Royal Family members, and now Rock is often referred to as ‘Chelsea-on-Sea’ with there being multiple million-pound homes, villas, and apartments hidden amongst the trees on the edge of the cliffs.
Hemmick Beach is located in South East Cornwall and situated on the Roseland Peninsula just a short walk away from Dodman point. The beach is a golden sandy cove with rocks on the left hand side filled with big and small rock pools which at low tide become bigger. Parking nearby is around a quater of a mile away and a 10 minute walk across the fields which does put some visitors off hence the beach remaining quiet during the summer months and most visitors often stay at the nearby hostel.
Longships Lighthouse is located in West Cornwall offshore from the famous Lands end attraction. This lighthouse has stood the test of strength and resilience since 1875, battled heavy storms and many ships have been stranded amongst the rocks in stormy seas.
