Located on Towan Head, beyond Little Fistral Beach in Newquay, you can find The Cribbar, a remarkable wave formation. To reach it, head towards the small white lookout tower at the top of Towan Head, following the path on the western side of the Head.
The Cribbar wave forms when the sea passes over a shallow reef off Fistral Beach, creating an incredibly steep wave similar to the effect of a tsunami wave meeting shallower water. This unique wave phenomenon requires a low spring tide and a south-easterly wind to occur, making it an extraordinary sight to witness amidst the already impressive waves in the area.
